What Connects South Indian ‘Kanji’ to Chinese ‘Congee’?
It struck to me one day how “congee” sounds so similar to “kanji” and how both of them are rice porridge dishes typically eaten when unwell. Some also call it comfort food and enjoy adding other ingredients other than rice and water. Could there be some interconnection between these two or is it just a cultural coinceidence?
